How ever its worth noting, that there have been some issues on Extinction since the Genesis release, and OSD's and Viens seem to be reported as affected by them. Metal tools are the only things that can harvest Element Veins, so using a Mantis with high melee with a metal pick is probably your best bet. Though, I’m not sure if pick or hatchet is better. I’ve done some testing, and it seems the pick is better, but I’ve yet to hear anything official. If your not up for rebuilding on gen2 you can take tames and gear to extinction and farm element by protecting nodes (giga/mantis combo recommended). I've only just started on Extinction after a long break and I read that element veins were disabled a while ago. Is this still the case? Thanks.Chainsaws do not work sadly. Tested on singleplayer. For question 1, they updated it so dinos cannot harvest element vein. When they were first enabled and wiped bases, you could but that was a very brief time. The mantis and chainsaw question though are some tests I would like to try at some point though.
